2011: Favorites

Friday, December 30th, 2011

Wow I can’t believe this year is over already! It’s been such a fantastic year; the best one yet I think! (Wait a second, don’t I say that every year? hehe)

This year was filled with so many great weddings. Each was unique & so different from the next. I don’t think I had a single  de-ja-vu moment this year.

I want to be able to celebrate how fabulous 2011 was & all the fun photographs I captured. If was to pick all my favorites in a bunch of different categories we’d be here for days looking at all extraordinary photographs; so I’ve selected my single most favorite photograph from each wedding & engagement session. And so without further ado; I present to you the 2011: Favorites!

To all my fabulous clients: Thank you a hundred times over for allowing me to capture these special moments for you – it really does mean a lot to me! Thank you for your support over the past year and words of kindness; your gratitude & friendship are the greatest of compliments. I hope to be your friend & photographer for many years to come!

Happy New Years everyone & Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!

Amber & Chris: Engaged | Granville Island Engagement Photography

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

These two are so cute – love them to death! Their wedding is going to so awesome…red lips, black dresses, vintage decor…L.O.V.E!!! Can’t wait!

The session was a blast! Amber had spent the morning getting ready & catching up on ANTM (smart choice right before your session). She was smizing like mad. Tyra would be proud ;) Chris, you did good too! hehe

Amber’s style is so awesome – cute & vintage – and it goes so well with Chris’ cool & casual approach.

We were so unsure of the weather last month that we postponed it to May and we got so lucky! At one point I found this AWESOME spot in the parking garage and we ended up spending way more time there than I thought we would. We finally said “ok we could have done this anyday, let’s get out in the sun!” lol. I’ll blame Chris for that, he was the one with all the ideas hehe.

We spent nearly 3 hours on Granville Island. Given that it was a holiday & everyone and their dog seemed to be there, we still managed to find some space to ourselves. They rocked the session with their fierce gazes!

Enjoy!

Matt & Melissa: Engaged | White Rock Engagement Photography

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

A few weekends ago I met up with Matt & Mel at the crack of dawn (okay not really but it was early!) at the White Rock Pier. I love this location! It has so many options in the area :)

We wanted to get there early so there wasn’t a crowd of people being a sunny Saturday and all. Well there were still a good amount of people around but we still had lots of fun!

The area holds special significance to Matt & Mel – it’s where they had their first date. They enjoyed a walk on the pier and had some gelato from Dolce Gelato. How romantic!

Here are some of my favorites from our session :)

Cherry Blossoms Engagement Session

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

Easter Friday morning I met with Vicky & Chad on a street corner…literally. We were on a mission to find the perfect Cherry Blossoms. I had located the “perfect” spot a few weeks prior to the session. The street is lined in cherry blossoms and they’re so massive that they create a cherry blossom canopy over the entire block!!

So while I was driving to the session, I was noticing how all the cherry blossoms were no longer in bloom in the area…I started to panic as I got closer to the location! “Quick think of a Plan B!!!” was all that I could think about at that moment. For some reason (possibly luck on our part) the location we picked was still in full bloom!

Vicky & Chad had a little surprise for me when I got there too…they decided last minute to bring their dog! I love dogs and Belle was super cute, she was a natural ;) Seriously, look at her…so damn cute! hehe Oh & the Canucks jersey – hilarious – it’s actually an infant’s jersey :P

Once we had our fill of cherry blossoms, we headed over to the PNE grounds and strolled around the area. We had so much fun that we totally lost track of time and before we knew it, it was past lunchtime!

While I was driving home after the session I was so excited to get home & look through what I had captured, I knew that they had nailed the entire session! Man was I ever right!!! Their wedding is going to be H.O.T ;)

“La meilleure chose à mon sujet, c’est vous.”

Oh…did I forget to warn you?…CAUTION: I couldn’t decide so I added a LOT of photographs! hehehehehehe

Rocky Point Park Engagement

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

Jeannie & Dale, I love this couple! We’ve worked together before…Dale is the brother of Dave, a groom from a wedding I shot last year. They are a super fun family & just plain awesome!

We managed to find some time in all of our busy schedules to met up for a few hours and have some fun in the sun. Dale & Jeannie are both students at SFU and they both work as well…and I thought I was busy! HA!

We got lucky with the sun…we could have done without all the wind though…but we did get to see a VERY rare site. The tide was so incredibly low at Rocky Point Park that you could almost walk right across the bay!!! Of course we took advantage of this occasion, don’t ask such silly questions ;) Don’t worry I didn’t make them walk across the bay lol. We just ventured under the docks, except we had the company of some nesting pigeons :s

After our session we ventured up to SFU to do some location scooting for their wedding this summer. I love the architecture that SFU offers, so I’m really excited about their wedding. I’m also excited b/c I get to see the Smith gang again!! It should be good times!!!

B&M Engagement Session | Langley Engagement Photographer

Monday, April 25th, 2011

A few weekends ago I met up with some clients who are getting married later this year, we’ll call them B&M.

We completely lucked out with the weather and we took FULL advantage of it! We took Fort Langley by storm hehe

B&M both said they were pretty nervous but we quickly got rid of those nerves and had some serious fun together!

Photographing was them was so incredibly easy, you’d never know they were nervous. They’re both incredibly photogenic – I could’ve photographed them for several more hours but we all  had places to be & people to see.

The entire time was so fantastic, but my favorite was when we stopped for a quick warm drink. The photographs from this time are so genuine, so real & so sweet!

B&M’s wedding is gonna be sooo amazing!! I seriously can’t wait…no seriously, can we do the wedding now?! ;)

Bowen Island Engagement Session

Saturday, April 9th, 2011

Last weekend I got to spend the afternoon with a total awesome couple on Bowen Island! Carolyn & Dustin live on Bowen Island, so I hopped on the ferry and met up with them on the other side. I remember being to Bowen Island once before in my early teens but I don’t remember much about the island.

This session was such a blast! The weather was perfect and Dustin & Carolyn were so enthusiastic. We hit up a few different spots and we even got to use the fire hall. How you ask…Dustin is a Firefighter. Carolyn was so excited for the fire hall, it was so hilarious!  I was super excited for the fire hall too but shhh don’t tell anyone ;)

We were having so much fun that we lost track of time & I missed the ferry so we kept shooting till the next ferry!

Dustin & Carolyn are getting married next month on Bowen Island. I’m so incredibly excited for their wedding, it’s going to be ridiculously awesome!!

I could keep writing about how much fun we had and how awesome the session was but I’ll just let the photographs speak for themselves…

Enjoy

Engagement Fusion Photography

Sunday, March 20th, 2011

Spring is officially here!
Every year spring means engagement sessions for all my couples. We go out to our favorite locations and have a ball shooting some fun, quirky, romantic, edgy and classic images of each couple leading up to their wedding.

This year will be no different. I love doing these sessions because it gives me a good opportunity to really get to know my clients and to make them feel comfortable being photographed.

I’ve had a new element to all my photography this year – bits of videography. It’s better known as fusion photography. Where I pair still photographs with small clips of video to create a whole new experience for my clients.

I got a bit of a head start to the sessions this year with one of my August couples. We set out in mid February to tackle Grouse Mountain for their engagement session.

I took this session as a perfect opportunity to showcase my fusion photography while we were out on the ice rink!

See for yourself in this short video I’ve made for the couple.

Ice Skating at Grouse | Vancouver Engagement Photographer

Monday, February 28th, 2011

A couple weekends ago I got together with one of the couple’s that I’ll be working with later this year. We decided that Grouse Mountain was the perfect location for their Engagement session since their wedding will be in the middle of summer AND they both love winter sports!

I was extremely excited for this session because they wanted to spend some time on the ice rink at the top of the mountain. I can’t skate, well maybe I can, but I wasn’t about to strap on some skates while holding a camera…that would have been a recipe for disaster! They did stellar – it helps that she skates competitively :)

After spending quite a bit of time outside, we decided to take the shoot inside the lodge for some warmth and some more intimate portraits. We were all frozen but made the most of the location!

The session was so much fun & I can’t wait for their wedding in August!

Enjoy :)

A Year In Review | Vancouver Wedding Photographer

Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010

I still cannot believe that 2010 is coming to a close!

This past year has been a highlight of my business thus far. I was so delighted to work at each and every wedding I covered this year – they were all so unique! The weddings were plentiful and exciting but I can’t forget about all the other clients from maternity & newborns to risky boudoir & engagements shoots – it was a blast to get to know my clients a little more & develop relationships with them.

Some wedding highlights for me are; Shark Fin soup & Jellyfish (really tasty!), largest wedding party yet (5 bridesmaids & 5 groomsmen), Fraser River Fishing Lodge (amazing!), supped up/tricked out Golf Cart, riding the elevator up & down 4 times to get wicked photographs with the most awesome bridal party ever…the list could go on!

Business this past year doubled the business I had last year – this is so exciting as a fairly new business in the industry. I cannot wait to see how 2011 & future years pan out.

2011 is already shaping up to be a spectacular year. The weddings that are booked to date are going to be just as awesome as this past year – I can’t wait to photograph these & share with everyone!

I’ll be taking the next few months off of shooting any sessions to work on the website & updating the portfolios as well as adding a secondary site for my Boudoir work. Although the posts will be less frequent than they have been you’ll be able to see updates on Facebook – look me up!

One last post before the New Year will be the TOP 10 of 2010 – my all time 10 favorite photographs of 2010 and possibly more…so STAY TUNED!
