Peter & Danielle | Married

June 23rd, 2011

Peter & Danielle…what do I say about them…I have so much to say that I don’t know where to start! These 2 are an awesome couple. They are a photographer’s dream – relaxed, fun & good looking. When we did their e-session in the fall I knew their wedding was going to be an amazing day & I couldn’t wait to photograph them again.

The big day was spectacular!! All the details that went into the wedding were so beautiful & well thought out. The day went by so fast for us – I couldn’t believe it when it was over – I didn’t want to leave ;)

The Ceremony was done at a small church in the Queensborough area. This church is beautiful on the inside, although I’m pretty sure it has the shortest aisle known to man – 5 steps and the bride was at the altar! I did notice that Father David was a bit of a talker & Peter wanted to get on with the day as he kept looking back to check the clock :P

The rest of the afternoon was ours to do what we wanted with! We ventured around the area on foot for awhile. The guys continued with their jokes & pranks on each other & kept everyone else laughing & cringing all at the same time. We went on a hop-on hop-off tour on the way to the reception as well. We got honked at & whistled lots while we were stopped onthe side of the road & at first I thought they were just strangers say “congratulations”, turns out they were all late comers to the reception. Bet they didn’t think they’d get caught!

The reception, one word “WOW”. Danielle & Peter, you guys know how to put on a party lol. So, you know how the bride & groom enter a reception to music & cheering and they just walk in to the room? Well these 2 didn’t want any part of that! How did they enter? To the  Rocky theme song dancing & Danielle was wearing her boxing gloves – so awesome lol. The reception was full of fun surprises from the way they decided which table got to eat next to the surprise father/daughter jig in the middle of their dance. It was obvious that not only do Danielle & Peter like to have fun & be goofy but so do their family & all their friends! Some of the moves we saw out on the dance floor at the beginning of the night were off the hook ;)

We had so much fun capturing their special day & all the surprised they threw out to their guests! And a big thanks to my second photographer/light stand Michael Wachniak!

Danielle & Peter – Thank you again for having us along for the ride! You’re both such special people & I hope you continue to cherish each other’s company for the rest of your lives. Oh & I hope you are enjoying the sun in Tahiti b/c we’re all freezing our tootsies off back home!

Amber & Chris: Engaged | Granville Island Engagement Photography

June 1st, 2011

These two are so cute – love them to death! Their wedding is going to so awesome…red lips, black dresses, vintage decor…L.O.V.E!!! Can’t wait!

The session was a blast! Amber had spent the morning getting ready & catching up on ANTM (smart choice right before your session). She was smizing like mad. Tyra would be proud ;) Chris, you did good too! hehe

Amber’s style is so awesome – cute & vintage – and it goes so well with Chris’ cool & casual approach.

We were so unsure of the weather last month that we postponed it to May and we got so lucky! At one point I found this AWESOME spot in the parking garage and we ended up spending way more time there than I thought we would. We finally said “ok we could have done this anyday, let’s get out in the sun!” lol. I’ll blame Chris for that, he was the one with all the ideas hehe.

We spent nearly 3 hours on Granville Island. Given that it was a holiday & everyone and their dog seemed to be there, we still managed to find some space to ourselves. They rocked the session with their fierce gazes!

Enjoy!

Champagne & Firetrucks | Bowen Island Wedding Photography

May 31st, 2011

I was ultra excited for this wedding because it was new territory for me! My creative juices were on location overload.

We started the morning early in order to catch the ferry over to Bowen but it was a nice & relaxing 20 minute ride before a very busy 12 hour day.

We all started out at the wedding location where the guys were left to complete the decorating and much to everyone’s surprise, they did a wonderful job! I wonder if they secretly paid someone to do it while they supervised & took all the credit ;) lol

While all the ladies were doing the final touches to their looks, the bride’s ride pulled up. It’s mint condition vintage Plymouth & it was red!!! I was in heaven. I love vintage cars & I love red….need I say more?!

The ceremony was short & sweet. Carolyn & Dustin had already been married for a few months as they did the courthouse legal papers back in late 2010. This was their time to celebrate & party with their closest friends & family. Carolyn was surprised by some of her long time friends from Alberta who didn’t think they’d make it to the wedding!

After the ceremony we all jumped into the trucks and basically toured around Bowen Island for the portrait session :) We seriously could have stayed out for hours upon hours with this group of people! They were hilarious, outgoing and so friendly – my kind of crowd. The location didn’t hurt either…seriously, this place is awesome! I really hope I get to photograph on Bowen Island again & again. It reminded me a lot of my home town (Prince Rupert), everyone knows everyone.

The reception was well underway by the time we returned & so it was time to jump right into the celebrating part of the day! There were some very emotional & loving speeches given and Carolyn’s parents sang their speech. The dance floor was a popular location for many. The bar tenders were exuberant & hilarious (I think maybe they had a few drinks for themselves ;) )

It was such a wonderful day & we ended it with a bang..no seriously. We ended the evening with a display of fireworks!

Dustin & Carolyn – may your lives continue to be so enriched with such amazing & loving people. Carolyn, you were a bombshell bride & Dustin you’re a lucky guy. Cheers to many years of happiness!

Matt & Melissa: Engaged | White Rock Engagement Photography

May 26th, 2011

A few weekends ago I met up with Matt & Mel at the crack of dawn (okay not really but it was early!) at the White Rock Pier. I love this location! It has so many options in the area :)

We wanted to get there early so there wasn’t a crowd of people being a sunny Saturday and all. Well there were still a good amount of people around but we still had lots of fun!

The area holds special significance to Matt & Mel – it’s where they had their first date. They enjoyed a walk on the pier and had some gelato from Dolce Gelato. How romantic!

Here are some of my favorites from our session :)

Jesse + Jolene = Love

May 20th, 2011

Jesse & Jolene share a special bond. You can see it in their eyes when they look at each other, each kiss, each touch. It’s truely amazing. They share so much love with one an other.

They were married at the Burnaby Lake Rowing Club. Beautiful location hide amongst all the city life! The day was absolutely perfect as well.

I met the ladies early in the day and got to get to know everyone while they all got ready for the long awaited wedding day. Jolene’s family & friends are such loving & caring people. We all shared some laughs that morning thanks to her hilarious Dad. That man made me smile throughout the day. You can tell he was so incredibly  happy for his daughter and I do believe he almost shed a tear during his speech – so cute!

The day was an amazing one & all put together with the help of Daniela & Coco of  Perfect Events.

Jesse & Jolene  - I wish the best of luck in your new life together. You have been through so much together and I hope that your bonds continue to strengthen.  Thank you for allowing us to capture your special day!

Creative Fun Studio Photography

April 28th, 2011

A few months back I spent a day in the studio working on some creative shots. Purely for fun, a little bit of learning and some photo-nerding. A group of 7 people (plus me) locked ourselves in the studio for 8 hours and went trigger happy. We had a model and a professional make-up artist & hairstylist, both did a FABULOUS job all day!

We played with different looks, props, lighting & posing techniques. We even became the models at times :) A lot of photographers don’t like to be photographed but I LOVE it (but only when it’s a professional behind the camera lol).

We had the wonderful & talented makeup artist & hair stylist, Rhoda, from Hampton Beauty working with us all day! Thanks for all your hard work & amazing talents!!

Here are some of my favorites from the day. Some of our model & some of the other photographers. The last 2 shots are of everyone (taken by Chris Murray) – can you see me? :P hehe

Cherry Blossoms Engagement Session

April 27th, 2011

Easter Friday morning I met with Vicky & Chad on a street corner…literally. We were on a mission to find the perfect Cherry Blossoms. I had located the “perfect” spot a few weeks prior to the session. The street is lined in cherry blossoms and they’re so massive that they create a cherry blossom canopy over the entire block!!

So while I was driving to the session, I was noticing how all the cherry blossoms were no longer in bloom in the area…I started to panic as I got closer to the location! “Quick think of a Plan B!!!” was all that I could think about at that moment. For some reason (possibly luck on our part) the location we picked was still in full bloom!

Vicky & Chad had a little surprise for me when I got there too…they decided last minute to bring their dog! I love dogs and Belle was super cute, she was a natural ;) Seriously, look at her…so damn cute! hehe Oh & the Canucks jersey – hilarious – it’s actually an infant’s jersey :P

Once we had our fill of cherry blossoms, we headed over to the PNE grounds and strolled around the area. We had so much fun that we totally lost track of time and before we knew it, it was past lunchtime!

While I was driving home after the session I was so excited to get home & look through what I had captured, I knew that they had nailed the entire session! Man was I ever right!!! Their wedding is going to be H.O.T ;)

Oh…did I forget to warn you?…CAUTION: I couldn’t decide so I added a LOT of photographs! hehehehehehe

Rocky Point Park Engagement

April 26th, 2011

Jeannie & Dale, I love this couple! We’ve worked together before…Dale is the brother of Dave, a groom from a wedding I shot last year. They are a super fun family & just plain awesome!

We managed to find some time in all of our busy schedules to met up for a few hours and have some fun in the sun. Dale & Jeannie are both students at SFU and they both work as well…and I thought I was busy! HA!

We got lucky with the sun…we could have done without all the wind though…but we did get to see a VERY rare site. The tide was so incredibly low at Rocky Point Park that you could almost walk right across the bay!!! Of course we took advantage of this occasion, don’t ask such silly questions ;) Don’t worry I didn’t make them walk across the bay lol. We just ventured under the docks, except we had the company of some nesting pigeons :s

After our session we ventured up to SFU to do some location scooting for their wedding this summer. I love the architecture that SFU offers, so I’m really excited about their wedding. I’m also excited b/c I get to see the Smith gang again!! It should be good times!!!

B&M Engagement Session | Langley Engagement Photographer

April 25th, 2011

A few weekends ago I met up with some clients who are getting married later this year, we’ll call them B&M.

We completely lucked out with the weather and we took FULL advantage of it! We took Fort Langley by storm hehe

B&M both said they were pretty nervous but we quickly got rid of those nerves and had some serious fun together!

Photographing was them was so incredibly easy, you’d never know they were nervous. They’re both incredibly photogenic – I could’ve photographed them for several more hours but we all  had places to be & people to see.

The entire time was so fantastic, but my favorite was when we stopped for a quick warm drink. The photographs from this time are so genuine, so real & so sweet!

B&M’s wedding is gonna be sooo amazing!! I seriously can’t wait…no seriously, can we do the wedding now?! ;)

Bowen Island Engagement Session

April 9th, 2011

Last weekend I got to spend the afternoon with a total awesome couple on Bowen Island! Carolyn & Dustin live on Bowen Island, so I hopped on the ferry and met up with them on the other side. I remember being to Bowen Island once before in my early teens but I don’t remember much about the island.

This session was such a blast! The weather was perfect and Dustin & Carolyn were so enthusiastic. We hit up a few different spots and we even got to use the fire hall. How you ask…Dustin is a Firefighter. Carolyn was so excited for the fire hall, it was so hilarious!  I was super excited for the fire hall too but shhh don’t tell anyone ;)

We were having so much fun that we lost track of time & I missed the ferry so we kept shooting till the next ferry!

Dustin & Carolyn are getting married next month on Bowen Island. I’m so incredibly excited for their wedding, it’s going to be ridiculously awesome!!

I could keep writing about how much fun we had and how awesome the session was but I’ll just let the photographs speak for themselves…

Enjoy
